What tonneau/bed cover do you have ?

Intrested in a hard bedcover like "bakflip" from Bak Industries to my -83.
Have checked their website but not found anything to square trucks.

Have an Extang Black Max on the -92 truck and it had worked fine but
it has no security.

Would be nice if it was possible to lock the cover/tailgate,any pics or links ?

Thanks.

Re: What tonneau/bed cover do you have ?

I have a hard tonneau coveron my 83 SWB from Snugtop. It is great when you tyravel, since it can be locked. Hauling something home that is big, the cover gets in the way. my son's truck has a soft tonneau from Extang on it and it works well for daily use and can be rolled up if there is something big to be hauled.

My 2011 daily driver has a Bakflip on it and it works real well for both sides of the issue and I really like it. Undercover also makes a "Bakfllip" design cover for trucks.

Re: What tonneau/bed cover do you have ?

I originally wanted the Backflip hard cover but when I contacted them about a year ago, they said that they were not making covers for 80s GMC trucks becuase they were too busy producing new items. It turned out well because when you open the Backflip the your rear window will be blocked by the cover.

I have the Truxedo soft tonneau cover on my 1984 GMC 8 foot bed and I love it. It does not go over the rails. U can roll it up in literally a minute. It has industrial velcro.

I have not figured out a way to lock the tailgate because these old trucks did not have a tailgate that could be locked.

Re: What tonneau/bed cover do you have ?

I used the Extang Platnum classic. I like the solid holding capability of the snaps and the fact that the snaps were mounted on a rail that ws on top of the bed. The velcro has limitations in cold weather. Easy to use and roll up.

Are you still looking for a hard cover?

To have the rear window blocked by the Bakflip is a good thing here because we must have window protection when we have cargo on the bed.
The cops give you ticket if they se you drive cargo without window protection.

Was thinking if there was an trifold cover with lock on the rear section, maybe it was possible to lock the tailgate from the inside and unlock it when the rear section of the bed cover was opened.

But must say that your Truxedo looked good on the truck

Thanks for links Frank,i should check it out.I think the freight cost of some of the hard covers would be to much.I should see what brands who are possible to buy in Sweden.

Remind me to never move to Sweden! What would they do if you didn't have windshield wipers, had blue dots, tinted windshield or drove without your seatbelt? Throw away the key I bet....
