hei in a 250 six

Ive searched and cannot find any info for installing an hei distributor in my 250 six.Ive seen numerous pics with them on one but no info.Anyone have the details?I dont really care for the looks of them and Im familiar with the pertronic units but ive retrofit them on v8s in the past with good results,the hei that is.thanks ron

I just pulled one out of a newer 6 banger.....at pick and pull

Any 250 or 292 HEI will work, they make a built in coil ( on top of the cap like a V8 ) and a seperate coil that is usually bolted to the side covers. Just drop it in and run a 12 volt wire from the fuse box that comes on with the key and you are good to go.

I have done countless of these change overs. You can get the HEI out of cars or trucks, novas had 6 cylinders alot.

That shows how much i know about 6 bangers,I thought the v6s and v8s dominated the years of the hei,never knew the straight 6s had them.thank for the info ron

you can also run a pertronix kit way easy to istall

petronixs is very easy to install, after i installed mine i just had to adjust the timing slightly. Comes with instructions
