69 chevy 1 ton
Hey guys im only 17 and my grandpa just recently told me that i could do whatever I wanted with his 1969 chevy 1 ton truck. Ive done a little research and i found out that the truck was special ordered to have an extended frame and longer bed. The bed is exactly 12 foot long and the truck was used to haul sod around a farm. Id like to turn the truck into a swb or lwb truck and be able to put an actual bed on it. My question is are there any frames from newer trucks that will work with the body of a 1969 chevy truck or do i have to find a frame from a 67-72 truck? Ive been told that i could cut the frame that i have now but that seems like it would weaken it a lot.

Re: 69 chevy 1 ton
It'sossible to put the body on a later model frame. For a first timer,it'sprobably not the way to go.Cutting the from will still net you a 1 ton.You are going to be better off with a 1/2 ton frame from 68-72.If the truck is solid, you could swap the body to a 1/2 ton frame, rather than trying to work with what you have.Might be even better to start with a complete 1/2 ton truck though.

Yeah, I would leave that truck alone and buy another. The 1-Ton truck is pretty much in demand and you could sell it and buy another already set to go.

How about a couple of pictures. What is the wheelbase on it? LockDoc
