help on '59 fuel tank options

ok, so i've spent 2 days on here searching for gas tank threads/posts who did what and how. what they used, did they move the rear x-member etc. etc. want to get a good size tank under the bed with a top fill option. so i'm requesting links or pics of what has been done. thanks guys.

aftermarket tank (brothers or LMC i think) that actually did just bolt in. once the bumper is back on and it was painted flat black, its tough to spot. fill spout in the bed.

Mine is from Brothers trucks as well ; ) All I had to do was eliminate the spare tire carrier, then drill some holes and bolt it up! If you can open my classic cars and tools link, it shows a few more pics (trying to get my viewership up! ; ) If you were to go this direction, wait until they have a sale~ they generally come down about half in price when they're running a sale. They also sell a universal fuel sender switch which is just that, universal. dne'

I went with a "bolt-in" style 19gal tank sold by Classic Parts. I was a little bummed to find out that the existing holes were drilled way off on the flanges and mounting the brackets required some modifying. The quality control is a bit off, but otherwise a good easy to bolt in tank. I would recommend it.

This is a 25 gal Blazer tank (73 I believe). Was able to use the stock tank straps as well.

These tanks must have come down in price. I thought sure they were more like close to 495! (of course they don't give away shipping/handling)(however, when I bought a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff, they cut prices here and there and worked with me on S/H!! that was nice!) I think the most demanding part on this tank was the little nut brackets. Drilling the holes were kind of a pain, then I welded the nut bars into place cause you wouldn't be able to just let the nutbar sit on the frame cause you can't get to it. Then if you were able to just sit it on the frame; God forbid if you ever should have to pull the gas tank back out! There are no instructions, but's kind of a no brainer. There are very little instructions with anything on these trucks, just this great forum with wonderful people that have lots of experience~ ; )

Early mustang 65-70 i used a 69 is 20 gallons paid $40 bought a coupls of straps and angle iron went right in without removing spar tire carrier. Have to remember that ford is backwards on the level sender with the ohms readings

thanks everyone for the pics and knowledge. i just learned about a local guy that built a tank for my buddy's 71. so maybe i'll check him out too. cant wait to roll around the block. shootin' for early summer

Yours is on eBay right now for $78 brand spanking new with free shipping in U.S. Pretty tempting. Have you finished the install and if so is it very visible. Description says its 29"x29"x13". I don't know if they're counting the height including the angled filler neck, but probably. Will you cap be behind your license?

49-51 Ford car 9 1/2" deep and most don't count the filler ht. As you can see, it still shows a little, even with the roll pan. I don't have the stock bumper that hangs down lower and that helps, but many of these tanks hang down too low for me and I raised the bed floor/tank 2" from stock.(personal opinion) Here's pic of mine so you can make a decision because this tank only holds 17 gallons and costs considerably more. It did give me room for rear exhaust, if that matters to you.

Dan,
Its not exactly done yet but I know the tank will show some. I switched to a Fleetside and if I run the lower bed filler piece it should almost hide the tank. I have to raise the bed floor because of the step notch, this will allow me to route the filler neck to the bed floor.
