Rare? Interior question...

I have been reading everything I can lay my eyes on. Something that's been recurring is rare interior colors. I read that the '69 red (the one I saw looked more maroon) and dark blue (mine is in perfect condition but the steering wheel is shot). Anybody know just how rare these are? I have a feeling this wheel is going to crater my wallet.

Your feeling would be right because it was just a 1969 only thing and while different people have different definitions of rare just the fact that it was a one year only run would mean that it is gonna be hard to get your hands on. You said your int was perfect except for the wheel, but if your int was that good how good would one have to be to have a good wheel? Good luck in your search.

Steering wheels can be repaired. And you can do it yourself. Seen a few restored and they turned out almost perfect. Maybe find another one to play with and try yourself. If it turns out just horrific you haven't destroyed what you have. You might surprise yourself. I think they use an epoxy two part type filler for the repair. But yes red interiors including arm rests, dash pads n door panels seem rare in our year trucks.

Hugger. I probably wasnt clear but my blue interior is perfect. The maroon one is a disaster.

I think I can repair the blue wheel but the maroon (69-red) is trashed.
Also pic of these interiors would be most appreciated.

I am going to pick up a truck tomorrow with a teal/mint green interior. The seat looks period but I don't think it's original as it is body color instead of mint.

Does anybody have brochures showing interior options for 69?

I just don't want to purchase the wrong stuff for restoration...but I do know I need a VG or NOS maroon(69-red) wheel. Ouch!

Just buy a wheel of any color (better yet, get a 67 or 68 wheel, because imho they are less prone to cracking and better looking). Then repair any cracks and paint it red and clear coat it.

Thanks Mister-B. I'll do that if it comes down to it. I have experience with the various epoxies and resins. This wheel is missing a good chunk but I'm pretty sure if it comes down it that's the solution. I was under the impression that 68-69 horn buttons are different...I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm mistaken. Thanks for the input.

However, all things being equal I'd prefer show quality. My goal is to bring this truck back to showroom/factory new. I'm doing a frame off as soon as I gather everything I need. Luckily I just wiped the dust off the dash pad and it looks like 40 years of dust protected it!

Yeah, the horn buttons on 67/68 wheels are round. They don't make them anymore, so they're hard to find

Those colors aren't rare,they're just one year only and not reproduced. So,reproductions are rare. So rare they don't exist! Sandalwood was used in more years and it's just as rare in reproduction...nada. There are quite a few colors that aren't reproduced.

That NOS red steering wheel probably wont hurt your pocketbook at all, since you'd have to find one for sale before you can spend the money to buy one...,

As I am not sure how "correct" your parts must be, a Sport/Comfortgrip steering wheel in red might be a viable no-mod. alternative.

Also...SSTim. I'm hearing ya. As far as I'm concerned I don't feel like a reproduction matches original. I like some of the ideas you suggest and I am thankful for your input. I like the picture and it makes me wonider if the buckets came in maroon (or 69 only red or burgundy or oxblood etc). I'm staying faithful to my spid with the bench.

The buckets/bench were red vs the darker door panels, dash pad and visors IIRC.
