Below is a build sheet for a Cheyenne Super. Note that it lists the upper and lower bodyside moldings that come standard on a Cheyenne Super. However it also lists the D99 as the paint code selected was for a Deluxe Two-Tone. The upgraded seat cover is interesting to see, but if you remeber the early reproduction parts were all aimed at the top end trucks and even today it is a lot easier to get a Cheyenne Super than a Custom seatcover. Below is a brochure clip of the two interiors side by side. The one thing to note in that picture is that Chevy upgrade the exteriors of both trucks over what a "stock" truck of that trim level would look like. Pure marketing.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Questions
Its funny that they state that the headliner trim is metal when we all know it's plastic. Same for stainless side molding that's actually aluminum.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Questions
thanks Tim - I would have assumed that since the SPID is attached post-paint that somehow the assembly line dude would know to weld the tabs on before that - i.e. the D99 callout on the build sheet perhaps - but the build sheet calls out the two tone paint scheme also simply by multi paint color listing too, so assumed that would trigger the assembly line dude. I guess what I was getting at was the possibility that THIS cheyenne might be an interesting specimen because it had that added on without 2-tone paint. I've seen plenty of 2-tone trucks without any D99 RPO listed anywhere. However, having said that - if your D99 examples were 2-tone trucks, then I'm guessing it is what it is. That's the main reason I think his was added on later.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Questions
D99 was a requirement for two-tone paint. There are few places you would see a D99 callout though. The build sheet and order sheet are the only two I can think of at the moment. The invoice and window sticker use the paint code RPO as the charge line for the two-tone paint. On this truck it could very well have been added, who knows maybe a Super and Deluxe two-tone conversion was in the works at some point.
