A.I.R. system question

i am bidding on a set of dynomax headers on EBAY but i have a question concerning the A.I.R. system. the headers dont have the bungs for the system and i am planning to put the system back. i do have a CAT that has the pipe fitting for the A.I.R. is there a difference or does it matter if they go into the header or into the CAT. we have emissions here and i will need to put the system back on by MARCH/04. what do yall think

If they do a visual inspection you will need the injection tubes at the header/manifold. They may let you get away with it in your area, but maybe not.
The factory manifolds do not inject into each runner (?) in the header/manifold. The edelbrock TES headers for these trucks do have an injection tube for each runner. I am sure this helps in the emissions performance.

Check with your local station to see if you do in fact need the a.i.r. system. You may only need the EGR, CAT, PCV, and vacuum canister.

The A.I.R. stuff is supposed to be at the exhaust manifold/header. The purpose is to inject air into the exhaust stream early on to lean out the exhaust mixture right when it comes out of the heads, to make it burn hotter to help burn any raw fuel. Down at the cat, which I have never seen, will not be factory. If someone is critical of this, they will turn it down right off the bat.

Not only that but injection air into a cat can cause it to overheat and become a danger. It is a way to cheat if done correctly.

i think i am just gonna wait, i like the flowtech shorties with the A.I.R. bungs already in them. i think that will be my best bet. then i gotta find an A.I.R. pump with a serpentine pulley. i still have the hose and crossover pipe from original.

The AIR injection into the cat started in the late 90's and involves a much bigger emissions control system. Leave it capped. It would only screw things up.

I would like to find a AIR pump with a sepentine pulley also. Anyone got any links?
