Re: I gave up

Well, my better half and I discussed the project and getting a new vehicle later this year. She conceded to our next vehicle can be a truck if I get rid of the project and the garage returns to what it was intended for - to keep our daily drivers out of the weather.

Time and money are resources that are needed to complete this project, and I have run short of both. I have honey-do's around the house that need a truck to get done and the prospect of buying a new one is winning. My goal is to have the yard and the garage cleaned out by Memorial Day even if it means I call the knackers to haul it away.

Re: I gave up

I think rather than calling a scrapper to come get it, you ought to at least make it available to one of these Kats that live close to you. I’m sure one of these guys would give you the same, if not slightly more, than what a vulture would give you for it. At least then it’s going to a good use and not simply crushed and shipped overseas.

Re: I gave up

Give someone else the chance to fix it up as opposed to sending it to the crusher, and you'll probably make more money on it to boot.

Re: I gave up

I stopped working on my truck about 18 months ago. I bought two other project / toy cars, and spent most of my time working on those. I stopped driving my truck because I thought the trans was bad, and needed a rebuild ( an '83 Camaro T5)...I tore it apart a little, and I found that the bolt holes in the bellhousing were stripped, and the motor and trans mounts completely wasted...Hence the popping out of gear and hard shifting symptoms I was having...

The bellhousing is helicoiled, new motor mounts bought, and now I'm itching to put it back together.

The moral of my long winded story, is that sometimes things aren't as bad as they seem.

I'm glad my fix is relatively easy because I like driving my truck...I feel like a bad ass in it...I think its kind of just and old truck, but even in Los Angeles...when I drive it, I can't go more than a day or two without someone waiting for me outside of the 7-11 (or wherever) to ask me a bunch of questions.

No vehicle is worth straining a relationship with your wife or husband over, but They are kind of cool trucks.

Re: I gave up

My only thought on this subject is that my truck is my stress reliever not my stress. If I didn't have my projects I would go insane to each their own. Move on to something you enjoy because life is to short.
