tire question

I finally picked up some decent wheels for my 83 C10 but 2 of them need tires. currently they have 275/60/15 on 15x8 eagal wheels. Im planning to do a 3/5 drop in the near future and wondering if i should step down to a 255/60/15 for the front for a little extra clearance but also to help the ride height a bit. Any thoughts? Currently has stockers with 225/75/15.

A 245/60 is perfect for the front

Ive seen that run up front as well. You dont think it`ll look too small compared to the rear 275/60`s? Not going to be able to lower it right away either so dont want it looking goofy untill I can do it.

are you running a 245/60/15-275/60/15 combo? I thought you always ran the 50 series tores on your truck.

Re: tire question

This pic is all 245/60/15's, I did have 275/50/15's but BFG quit making them, the 245's are the same diameter but not as wide as the 275's

your truck still looks awsome but my problem is Im going to have 275/60/15 on the rear and Im thinking 245/60/15 up front might look funny at stock height. Not going to be able to lower it right away but hopefully soon. Thats why I was thinking 255/60/15 up front. Future plans are installing the rear flip kit I got from the guy in the classified section and get some shock extenders. Then buy a set of 3" drop spindles and maybe cut half a coil front the stock spring. I want the nose just a little lower than the rear.

Thanks. Im familiar with the different tire diameters. That isnt the problem. My 275/60`s are 28", 255/60`s are 27" and 245/60`s are 26.5" depending on manufacturer specs. My thoughts are the smaller 245/60/15 might not look right with so much air between the fender and the tire compared to the 275/60/15. Dont really know how to explain this other than picture a stock height truck with stock 225/75/15 on the front and 31x10.5x15 on the rear. They both fit but the bigger rear tires make the smaller fronts look really small. Now if the truck was lowered the difference wouldnt be so noticable. My problem is the truck wont be lowered for several months and Im buying tires in the next week or so.

Re: tire question

Drop the truck first, then deal with tires, it will save you a lot of headaches down the road, depending on how low you go your gonna need a smaller tire, a 275/60 on the back will not be a problem, but the front, need to avoid tire rub

easier said than done. I dont have room to store these wheels for months and months so they are going on asap. Guess Im sticking with 275/60`s.

Re: tire question

Get the tires that look good AFTER you drop it, it wont matter what they look like now if its not staying that way.

Re: tire question

It'll be fine with 275s. I run 275/60/15 on all four corners with a 4/4 drop and nothing rubs.
