Advice from brothers on windshield rubber - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I called brothers and told them the gap /slit for my ss trim was too wide and it just popped out.. they told be to .. step one
put the rubber around the windshield.
step two: install windshield.
step three: install trim last....

anybody ever done it this way on these trucks?

No. Never did it that way. I would try it anyway. Just wondering if the trim you have is the older trim one is wider than the other. And would not work in the wrong seal. I think the cutoff for the wide trim is 70 and the 71/72 is narrow. I had a brand new seal from them that sat for several years without provisions for trim and when I went to install it it was entirely too big for the window and had to pitch it. From now on I use the precision brand for all my glass. The package was marked 67-72 but was almost 3/4 inch too big for the glass.

I think they gave you bad advice. Watch this video from Precision showing the step by step installation. Do it like they did and you wont have a problem.

That is the worst advice I have ever heard. There is no way you are going to get the trim in AFTER the windshield is installed. The person who told you that has obviously never tried this. The video Jeff posted above is excellent.

What is the brand name of the gasket your installing? I had trouble with one I think was called super seal or something. Could be what's causing the problem.

Best one and the only one I use from now on is Precision brand.

It seems Brothers is not doing well lately as far the customers go from what I here on these forums. Time for them to get their $hit together and start caring alittle more.

Way back when, I had to remove a windshield after installing it because I thought I could put the trim on after the windshield was installed. I only made that mistake once.

Brothers is a great place to buy from, there customer service is also very good. Keep in mind that for the most part, only bad experiences are shared on the Internet, very few good transactions make it. With the thousands of transactions that go on monthly, I think the relative few negative comments speaks rather well of the company. They also go out of there way to remedy hard feelings. I've gotten products from most of the vendors and find Brothers products to be top notch. I had a horrible experience with brothers, bought lots from them, did tons of business with them when building my 67 swb. Who ever i had talked to in customer service should have been fired for the way i was treated. I wont ever buy anything from them again.

I buy everything from Gmcpauls, He has great customer service
