Re: New radio installed

Thanks for the post. This is the same color as my truck, and someone has already been cutting on the radio portion. I have been torn trying to find out what to do. Looks like more cutting for me too.

Re: New radio installed

I don't see why everybody gets their panties in a bunch about cutting a dash for a decent radio. I have cut more dashes in the last 20 years than I care to remember. Its not like almost everyone of these trucks has not been cut or welded on somewhere (i.e. rockers, cab corners etc.) You can buy a piece to repair a hacked up dash if you have some ultra rare show/museum truck but most of us have OLD Trucks. Keyword OLD TRUCKS. These trucks weren't stock with 20's, 4-6 drops or 400+ hp either.
Sorry to rant but these trucks are not 427/435hp Corvettes or ZL1 Camaros.
O yeah buy the way that looks great and now I think I will start keeping one of those Doc's bezels at the shop for future installs..

I think it looks good and the bezel rounds out the package. I'm subscribing to this one so I know where to get the bezel from when it comes time for me to do mine.

Well said..

I cut my mint original dash in my 69 and installed a nice head unit, amps, speakers, and sub. Sounds great and I would do it again in a minute.

However, I would not even think about cutting the dash in my 56 nomad or my wife's 67 camaro.

Re: New radio installed

I cut the dash on my '78 for an Alpine deck. I struggled with doing it and in the end, decided I would cut very carefully and save the cut out pieces.

This made it an easier decision. Still have those pieces so that if down the road, another owner wants to return it to purity, they'll have the cut outs and can weld them back in.
