exhaust manifold heat shields required?

Hey guys

Im looking for trailblazer ss manifolds for my 5.3 swap and i found a guy that has them but he doesnt have heat shields

Are these absolutely needed? i dont want to burn plug wires etc but then again, headers dont have shields...

Re: exhaust manifold heat shields required?

not needed, just take a careful look at how your plug wires sit, same with your fuel lines and brake lines. In my case, I chose to throw some heat-barrier fabric over my inbound fuel line which passes a few inches away from the exhaust; no reason to pre-heat fuel lol
