Found Another GM Replacement/NOS vs GM Production Parts Difference?
I've been looking for a NOS four or five speed shift knob for awhile now for my '66 project. I had found a few pics, all NOS in the box. After a google search I found a guy that posted in '09 saying he had a NOS four speed knob and I emailed to see if he still had it. He did and it arrived today, but the font and font size is not like the other knobs I've seen pictures of. Is this a post-production change, or did later (68 up?) production knobs have this style font?
Pic of knob I bought. Pics of other knobs I'd seen before. Another NOS/production part difference I found was a deluxe heater control that didn't have the bowtie printed on the lens, but was painted '66 only Chevy dark fawn poly with a texturing agent. Later GM replacement aluminum 64-66 headlight bezels were also different than the production parts- replacements had cut outs for the adjustment screws.

Mine looks exactly like the one you bought, even down to the off-white color of the numerals in the etching. It's a little worse for the wear now, but looks the same (66 GMC).

one on e-bay went for $104.00. some trucks didn't have the shift pattern on them. when i was a teen my buddy's dad had a 63 and 4speed and the shift knob was blank. this truck was all stock.
