Pickup Starting Issues
Today my 68 C10 350 would not start. I just replaced the started a few months ago. When I turn the key there is no clicking or anything. The battery is charged with 14 Volts. I would say it went into anti-theft mode but it has no alarm. I ended up having to use a screw driver to jump the terminals to start it and get it home.
What do you think? Solenoid? |

Re: Pickup Starting Issues
Connections, connections, connections. Did I say connections? Make sure they are all clean, serviceable and tight before you go any further. Not totally out of the question for a new starter to crap out (new-er)but start with what you messed with to replace the starter(connections)

Re: Pickup Starting Issues
Neutral safety switch maybe? If it started by jumping the small "S" terminal the starter is probably ok. Was it originally an automatic truck.

Re: Pickup Starting Issues
Street Smart. It was originally an automatic. The Neutral Safety Switch is bypassed so it can be started in any gear. It tested everything and check connections and it was all good. It hasn't happened again so we will see.
