Thinking of buying a Blazer
A buddy's brother found a pair of Blazers for sale. My friend wants one and I'm thinking of buying the other. All we know for shure is it's a 71, non ac, 350 w/ granny low 4spd. body looks rough, but not shure how the under structure looks yet. Still can't beat the price for a running 4x4....

The owner only wants 800 for the pair. The one my buddy wants has a good body but needs some engine work. The one I want looks to have a trashed exterior but only needs a tune up. I thought if nothing else, take the running gear and put under my 2x pick up...

go get them tomorrow there are lots of good parts on both of those vehicles or talk your buddy into letting you have both and swap the motors and have a good runner while you restore the other one

Ow!
As much as I love Blazers, that one is pretty ratty! Before you jump in, check with our friendly vendors and make sure you can get all the sheetmetal you'd need to put it back together. Most pieces ARE available, but some are strangely absent. Brian |

HOLY SH!T MAN...... THAT IS ONE RUSTY BLAZER. I REALLY REALLY LIKE BLAZERS BUT JUST FROM LOOKING AT THE PICTURE, I WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER A RESTORATION. I'M SURE THERES ALOT OF GOOD PARTS ON IT, & LIKE YOU SAY, MAYBE YOU'LL JUST PULL THE RUNNING GEAR (JUST MAKE SURE IT'S SALVAGABLE. ) I LIVED IN MICHIGAN FOR 35 YEARS, & ONCE HAD A STARTER RUST OUT ON A FORD WORK VAN, SO A SUPER RUSTY DRIVETRAIN CAN BE A REAL PITA TO WORK ON. THE PRICE SEEMS RIGHT, & MAYBE YOU CAN SELL ENOUGH PARTS OFF OF IT TO GET THE DRIVETRAIN FOR FREE. GOOD LUCK WITH IT JOHN (I JUST LOOKED AT THOSE PIC.S AGAIN ... PUT THAT POOR BLAZER BODY OUT OF IT'S MISERY)

Yeah the primered one is probably too far gone to restore. I'll find out for sure how bad it is Wednesday. If the body is too far gone I'm going to put the drive train under my pick up...

i agree with Ol Buck...forget the drivetrain swap, because you would have to cut something to fit...either the blazer frame or the trucks' bed. i have heard it is easier to swap an entire 4x4 frame to a 2wd body, than 4wd components to a 2wd frame.
just patch the body together as best you can, air down the tires, and go push some trees over and rockcrawl. then when the body is trash sell the drivetrain to make up the purchase price.

UPDATE
Well I bought the Blazer. Already picked out a name too. Rusty. After looking him over he's not in that bade of shape. Needs front cab supports and rocker boxes but the rest is all cosmetic. I'll try to get a few more shots up tomorrow...
