high hump or low hump

I have a 1972 chevy c-20 pickup that iam getting ready to buy carpet for on lmctruck.com . But I don't know if its a low hump or high hump wondering if someone could help me out. The lmc catalog says to measure from the top to floor board if its 4'' then its low if its 6'' then its high. I measured 4'' but it use to have a standard in it which is now not in the truck its been switched over to a automatic. the reason I ask is a buddy of mine said that all standards are high hump ones but like I said I measured 4''

Any help would be great

Re: high hump or low hump

another question I have is the one with gas tank in cab cost 599 for the whole interior kit. but the one that says without gas tank cost 549. I know mine has a gas tank in it but I was wondering if I could cut the carpet when it get to the gas tank.

W/In cab tank carpet stops at front edge of gas tank
W/out Carpet goes to back wall of cab

Re: high hump or low hump

the high hump is bolted in and the low hump is molded in, three speeds and turbo 350s had low humps, 4 spds and turbo 400s had high humps

Re: high hump or low hump

you shouldnt need glue they stay down good and the plate by the door opening will screw down over the edge of the carpet to hold down.

Re: high hump or low hump

If it's bolted, it's a high hump. Also, my TH400 with 2WD has a low hump.

Not the question you asked, but I've seen where a number of forum members have said they weren't pleased with the LMC carpet. I used ACC carpet, and found the best price at www.rockauto.com. ACC is also sold by www.stockinteriors.com. I was very satisfied with the ACC 80/20 loop carpet with mass backing. I paid nowhere near $550. More like $200. I got the carpet for the in-cab tank and it fit right up to the bottom of the tank.

NOTE: Be sure you order the right set. I don't see any at LMC for a pickup that approaches $550.

If you do a forum search for "sound deadener" you'll find lots of options for underlayment. I used the foil backed self adhesive duct wrap sold by Lowe's, Home Depot, etc, in addition to the mass backed carpet and pad that came with it. The total cost was about $50. I have not finished the truck so I can't comment on how well it works. However, when I knock of the back of the cab and gas tank, they no longer sound like an oil drum. Some have said it has an asphalt odor. I don't notice it.
