Hey all , let me introduce myself, my name is Justin or Smokey as my friends call me, I live in kuna,id . Since I was in highschool I always wanted a 67-72 Chevy, but settled with building a mini truck, I've been a tin bender since I could pick up a body hammer and dollies and have been part of numerous builds of friends, customers , and my own. A couple weeks ago I finally picked up a 68 Chevy lwb , mild built 350 , automatic ....Needless to say , let the games begin , everyone on here has inspired me for this build , thank you , I now introduce you to Project : Rusty Spark

Welcome from NC!!! Great looking truck, looks to be very original and straight. If it were me I woulda kept it original paint and tried to blend it where you shortened the bed but that's just me. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it

Thank you all so much for your kind words and appreciation. As far as plans go , I am gonna keep the exterior mostly stock, suicide the doors, flip the front marker lights, and pie cut hood, add a hand fabbed roll pan and led lighting. I will do a full one off air suspension , upgrade brakes , sheetmetal interior work, as well as clean up the engine bay . This will be my shop truck / parts runner , so I am not gonna get too carried away, I still wanna be able to enjoy it for every day use, not sure on wheel ideas yet. The finish was epoxy primer, then body work, and what you see is a left over buff primer with a guide coat for final block sanding when I get the inside of the bed modified .

Yea, that sounds like a mostly stock exterior! I'm looking at those pics on my phone and actually thought the last picture was of some kind of fancy paint affect! It looks like it on my phone and looks kinda neat!
Can't wait to see what you come up with! Looks like an interesting build! I'm wanting to redo my 69 and experiment with a few custom touches, keep us posted and take lots of pics! No one will get upset with lots of pics!

Did you cut the lwb trim pieces down to fit? if so how well did that work and how difficult. Maybe snap a close up pic for me too

Thanks again all for the welcome! I will post more pictures tomorrow , I will throw some up of the d100 67chevyredneck, and yes I did cut down the lwb trim, 12 inches out of the front , and 8 inches out of the rear, just measure, cut with a hack saw , then cut 1/2 inch of the rolled lip on the backside of trim to allow it to key into trim for the wheel well, I will take pictures for you 67c10rustbucket, this weekend I will be cutting the frame down as well as installing the new one off x members I fabbed up tonight to secure the frame in the spare tire area so that I can install a rear mounted tank . I will fabricate every part possible on this truck , so stay tuned!!!
