1970 115in Frame & Wide Bed ?
Have an opportunity to purchase rolling frame with short wide box, pickup is complete but owner wants cab and motor/trans. No frame damage, rust or bed damage. My question to you guy's is ? is it worth over a $1000.00 to convert my 68 GMC long bed over to a short bed, with coil spring rear ? I hope this question is not breaking any board rules ?.......

If the box is in good condition it could be worth that ($1000) alone. And if that is what you want to do then I would say do it.

Re: 1970 115in Frame & Wide Bed ?
Is this another trick question? Hell yea it's worth it! That's what I did. The guy is getting rid of the most valuable part of the truck. Score that rolling frame and box!
P.S. Like your avatar. The pinnacle of Chevy race car.

Re: 1970 115in Frame & Wide Bed ?
One of the things you are overlooking [or maybe your not] that on the GMC the coil sprung rear type suspension was an optional type thing. So that while adding value of the short over the long you also will be addind the optioal rear suspension. That is exactly what I am doing to my 68 GMC that was a 3/4 ton with buddy buckets big block factory air and power steering and power brakes, plus a wood floor. I thought the optioal rear thing would fit right at home with a truck that was as "loaded" as that one. I thing it would be a wise move for you IF you either are : wanting a short truck or thinking about selling anytime in the future [I'm always thinking of selling in the future]. I think you can't go wrong at that price if the parts are as good as your saying. Good luck. Jim

Re: 1970 115in Frame & Wide Bed ?
Thanks you all for the input ! I worded my question the way I did so as not to break forum rules ? My 68 GMC has leafs in back, no spid ever from California and is a 56k original survivor. Just trying to gauge how much $ is justified for the frame & box to make the conversion? Also am questioning the title/ frame vin conflict ?......thanks again
