Windshield Install ?

OK, here is the story. I called Advanced Auto Glass to put a windshield in my 1969 c10.They tell me for $205.00 they would install the front windshield. I tell them I need the front windshield and back glass put in with the gasket and trim. They said for $423.00 they would do both and they had every thing gaskets, trim and glass. I was told that they would be at my house on Monday between 10:00 and 2:00 to install it. Monday at 1:50 I call them to see were they are at and twenty minutes later the installer shows up.
The installer gets his glass out and I ask does he have evrything. He says yep windsheild and gasket. I ask about the trim and he said they don't carry that. He didn't have the back glass or gasket either. He said he could get the gasket for the trim but he cant get the trim. He said the gasket, trim and glass all had to be installed at the same time. With that piece of info, I told him I would wait until I got the trim.
My question is, does it all have to be installed at the same time? Should I get another installer? Or should I get a set of aviator glases and go without the windshield?

Re: Windshield Install ?

Trim goes into the rubber, before you can install the glass.

Re: Windshield Install ?

You may want to make sure that they have the right seal for the trim as there are two different sizes on the part that fits into the seal.

You bet and good luck. The OEM trim isn't too hard to scare up on the parts board if you need a new set.
