Copper 71 with Black Roof

I am working on my 71 c10 and have been debating on painting my white roof black. It currently has a white roof, white towing mirrors, and a white front bumper. If I painted the roof black, I would have to paint those other items black too. What do you think? Does anyone have any pictures? If yes, could I use flat black paint?

it may look Halloweenish but I am in NO WAY a fashion guru.

See if someone with PhotoShop can color it up for you.

You are not a stick in the mud. This is exactly the kind of info I am looking for.

Re: Copper 71 with Black Roof

South Carolina is pretty hot in the summer I would think that black would be smokin! (hot) With that said though... black is a nice color if you can put up with it.
I don't remember ever seeing one like that on here.

It's yours so heck with it and do what you want...

I think it would look good with chrome bumper and mirrors.

Re: Copper 71 with Black Roof

The was a factory optional hugger orange with a black roof (code 565). Its great if you like it. As was pointed out chrome/stainless bumpers and mirrors will look better than black unless you are planning on blacking out the grill shell too. But then that is a lot of black. Also you could try the faux vinyl roof look which would be period to the truck.

On a practicl side the heat load from a black roof is a lot higher than a white roof and flat black is going to be the highest. Parked vehicle temps. could easily differ as much as 50*.

If it were me I'd keep the white or revert to a solid copper before painting the roof black.

Re: Copper 71 with Black Roof

My buddies dad had a 68 Z28 in Covette bronze, which I would call copper, with the black stripes. I loved that color combo, and it was factory original.

Re: Copper 71 with Black Roof

How about taking it just a bit further. Paint the top half of the truck black with a copper lower half. By painting the top down to the roll in the fenders, you do something to set your paint scheme apart from many others and in doing so, it makes the vehicle appear to be lower in stance than it truly is. This is an old trick many street rodders hav eused for years. Put a stripe in at the breaking line of the paint and then clear coat it all.

Re: Copper 71 with Black Roof

Mines obviously not orange and black but I like my black top. I also have a black dash pad, steering wheel, and will be putting in black door panels. Just post on the Photoshop thread and McCoy can hook you up.

Re: Copper 71 with Black Roof

I used to have a 94 blazer that was all flat black. Everytime i went to touch it i would burn myself. I soon started to not touch it as much as i could. But of course i live in Texas and it gets HOT down here.
