Will this work?
In your opinion, is this a decent disc brake set up for a conversion on a 68 c10? This is on a 72. I can't figure out how to upload more pics at one time.

It will work but you are going to have to replace the calipers and rotors on that setup since they are so "weathered".

it looks like a good start really depends how much? havin that motor there is a negative to have to work around
those rotors might actually be a lot better than any thing you could buy new if they r not all gouged up a power wash to clean the mud out of the cooling holes a light coat of por15 and a macine shop light cut to true them// if they are within tolerances better than any chinese crap at the store nowadays the calipers? junk cores at the best

Definitely a good start....you will need new inner and outer tie rod ends, new rotors, calipers and pads......but if you take everything you see and can get to, you will be very happy when completed.

Ok I'm going to get a quote tomorrow. The motor isn't bolted down. I actually moved it to get a decent pic.

Damian, if the guy will let you......try to buy the who front frame assembly. Just to make it easy on your change over. If you get lucky and have a torch or really good sawzall.......cut the frame just in front of the cab and take it all as one piece.

The frame is cut out in the rear so it's really useless. So what will I need for the conversion?

we did the same thing to a 67 we did a few months ago (before our wonderful snow started coming) It was easiest to just unbolt everything and switch over. Everything isnt needed per say, but you are sure to have exact fit when done.

Steve, we have so many junker long boxes sitting around here its pathetic. We build a few of these a year and everyone wants a shorty. so we gonna be cutting the frame a little anyways. But I would agree if you have a good frame and a need for it....dont cut it.

You will need the spindles with rotors and calipers and the complete tie rod assemblies. The tie rod ends on the 71-72 disc brake set up are larger than the drum brake ones. Be sure to get the center link along with the tie rod ends. If you replace the tie rod ends, be sure to get ones for a 71-72 disc brake truck.
