71 gmc 1/2 ton bed on 70 chevy 3/4 ton

Hi All,

I have a 1970 chevy 4X4, 3/4 ton pickup. My bed is hammered. I found a good deal on a 1971 gmc, 1/2, 2-wheel drive. Will the bed off the 71 bolt onto my 1970 3/4 ton? Are the frames the same from a 1/2 ton to a 3/4 ton? The beds look the same except for the chrome piece along the bottom.

I know I could probably measure the distance between the bolt holes but my truck is full of lumber right now and there is still snow on the ground here. Thanks for any help!

As long as they're both 8 foot beds it will bolt on. If the 1/2 ton is a swb 6 foot bed contact me immediately! ;-)

Re: 71 gmc 1/2 ton bed on 70 chevy 3/4 ton

Thanks for the information guys. Sorry it is not a short bed. I don't think I can go wrong for $200 for the whole truck (minus the motor). The passanger's side has one ding and one spot where it looks like some body filler may have been used. I am going to take a magnet out and see if there is any more body filler.

Thanks again

Forget the magnet, take the wallet. If your not interested in parting it out pass it along to someone else here or I hate to say it in the worst case it will weigh more than that scrap value wise so it will still make money , even if you haul it in for scrap. Before the haters start planning a roadtrip to Marianna to "talk" to me note that I said I hate that and would hold that out as a last resort. Also welcome to the site a little late but none the less

I think scrap prices are about $100 per ton here in NW Montana. The motor is out so I am thinking it probably weighs around 3000 pounds. Once I get the truck, I will see what kind of shape the rest of it is in. If there are some decent parts, I will try and put the word out and consider listing it on the site. The truck does have the factory front disc brakes. Thanks again for the feedback.
