What does transmission have to do with park brake cables!?
I am trying to order a full set of park brake cables for my truck, but since i have an aftermarket trans installed the guy at inline tube says thats custom and wont fit...
Last i checked, the parking brake wasnt connected to the transmission!? I see in their catalog that they do spec out different transmissions, but what does this have to do with parking brake? Is it really that big of difference of fit if I installed a 5 speed manual? Posted via Mobile Device

Auto trans has the crosmember at the back of the trans so the cables have to be routed through it.

Mock up a park brake cable with a wire and route it like the stock setup in the service manual then measure it. If a stock application is really close then adjust the guides to fit the closest. If it is going to be several inches a custom cable might be best or if you can crimp up your own. LMC's catalog has the lengths for you.

The TH 400 crossmember has the cable routed through one or two loops that attach to the crossmember. Here is a picture of a mocked up crossmember as used in a TH 400 application. Other transmissions may not have any effect on the cables but I am sure that there is a spot in their order form for the type of transmission the vehicle has.
It is pretty easy to make up the intermediate cable so that is what I usually do. Jim

Yea i looked in lmc book, but didnt show how it connects to the cross member, i ordered one, if i have to weld a loop or something to my custom crossmember its no problem, i just didnt know why there was a difference in the kits.

I noticed that the equalizer rod is longer on the big block/th400 trucks. I guess that would make the cable a bit shorter.

The shorter cables are to clear the rear trans crossmember. You are probably going to need to start with a short cable and fab an equalizer point similar to the TH400 or 4x4 installation off of the crossmember. My reference was to the LMC catalog was for lengths and service manuals for routing.
