A few questions about static drops.

Right now my truck is dropped pretty low. the only problem is i cant remember how low it is. is there a way to measure how low ive dropped? also. i think i have drop spindles and i know i have drop springs in the front and drop springs in the rear. as far as i can remember i dropped it 5 in the rear and a total of 4.5 in the front, is there anything else i need for a correct drop? my carrier bearing breaks constantly so i know i need a one piece driveshaft or a slip yolk or something. will an adjustable tracking arm fix this too? ive read about the shock relocation kits, will this help? the main problem is in the front. i cant remember off the top of my head what tires in running, but there is maybe and inch and of clearance between the bump stops and i still have a large gap in between the fender and the tire. Picture here: http://i.imgur.com/fM85VY3.jpg

I have larger tires in the rear, and that looks pretty good, but when i see other pictures of dropped trucks, they always look lower than mine. as far as i know i have 2.5 inch drop spindles in the front with 2 inch drop springs, but i didnt buy the parts or install them ( i installed the drop springs, but not the spindles.) the truck is also in storage right now for the winter and i have not been able to confirm if they are in fact drop spindles. i will check to make sure soon though. any advice?

Re: A few questions about static drops.

If your driveshaft is the correct length and has been ballanced it should last 40 years.
Lowering your truck can make the rear driveshaft too long and push the bearing through the bracket.
These 2 piece drivelines can be put together VERY wrong. And even when they are put together correctly any maintanence will effect the ballance and the shaft needs to be reballanced.
Take your driveshaft to a driveshaft shop with measurements of your truck at ride height. Tailshaft to center of carrier bearing mount, center of carrier bearing mount to center of rear ujoint. And have them ballance the shaft.
Or if your shaft needs a bunch of work spend the $200 on a new one piece reusing your trans yoke.

adjustable panhard bar /// allows rearend to b centered in the frame

shock relocators /// allows optimum angle for shocks to work at the most effective and comfortable rate

Re: A few questions about static drops.

I think lmc has measurements from axle centerline to top of wheel opening in their catalog.
