Exclamation Carrier bearing question/ bagged

I haven't come across this before
When a bagged c10 with a two piece driveshaft drives when fairly aired out,
Does the carrier bearing need to be raised to decrease the amount of angle on the drive shaft

Mine started smoking on me by the time I got to the corner from my house
This is how low I was driving


Possible seized bearing?

Normally to fix the pinion angle from such an extreme drop, you would need to raise the bearing. You can just knock out the rivets, flip it over and bolt it through the existing top holes. I dont know why yours would be smoking though, buy yes its probably seized. When I lowered my 78 c10, my u-joints were binding up and making a banging sound as I was driving. I added some shims and its fine now.

What happens if you lift it up and drive it?

If you replace the bearing the shaft will need to be reballanced. May as well take it to the driveline shop right off the bat so they can tell if your 40 year Old parts are worth reusing. Best case scenerio 3 ujoints, carrier and a ballance.

You may want to take measurements from trans output to center of carrier mount then center of carrier mount to center of rear ujoint at different ride heights. You may need a slip and stub in your rear shaft.
