Does anyone know of a place where you can buy pre cut metal to box a frame or do i have to fabricate my own?

For the close fit you need on your frame, which may be just a little bit different than the next, for welding purposes.
You can cut some craft paper to fit within 1/16" just under the lip of your chassis to your local blacksmith shop or muffler shop and have them cut two pieces for your chassis. The hardest part is making the pattern!

Speedway has the front sections http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1947-5...tes,50957.html

Progressive Automotive boxing plate page http://www.progressiveautomotive.com/Boxing.htm

A guy should be able to make his own with about ten bucks worth of cold roll from the local steel yard though. Especially if you can dig through their remnant pile and maybe buy it by the lb. One of the local farm equipment manufactureing/ welding / machine shops usually leaves their remnants in a pile on the floor by the steel rack for guys to pick through before they load them in the scrap bin. I've bought a lot of metal out of that pile over the past 35 years.

Re: boxing frame on 52 chev

If ya have an angle grinder making boxing plates is about one of the easiest things we do to our trucks. Dont get me wrong id love the idea of just buying an already made part to save my time, but for the 400+ price of progressive's set there's alot other parts I could buy with the extra ~300 bucks id save over making my own.
