wiring question
Is the factory wiring harness from a complete pull out long enough to reach inside the cab for mounting. I don't really want all of that "stuff" under to hood. I am trying not to spend 1000.00 on a painless harness if I can help it!

Re: wiring question
The factory harness puts the ECM up front on the driver side. As it comes out of the donor truck, there is no way it will reach the cab. If you pull the entire harness apart, you might be able to reroute everything and reach that far...but that is a lot of work.
I personally had my ECM mounted in a nice covered bracket up on the core support. You didn't really notice it unless you were looking for it.

Re: wiring question
i used a factory harness, and unwrapped everything and the items that would not reach were things on the drivers side of the motor, injectors, coil pack, temp sender
those things had to have wire soldered in. was labor intensive though, not fast by any means. maybe my next one would be faster.

Re: wiring question
This depends on WHICH harness you started with. The VAN harness is longer in every way, by a decent amount, and will let you move things around easier, plus the length makes splicing easier if you need to.

Re: wiring question
It's not a cheap option, but Painful Wiring has an option for their harnesses to mount inside. Anybody that makes or modifies harnesses should be able to do the same thing.

Re: wiring question
Harness from PSI mounts it inside. Not 1000.00 and brand new quality connectors. They build the whole harness from scratch. I've heard it is a real quality piece. I'm waiting on mine to show up. Should be in the next couple of days.

Re: wiring question
They are great people to work with. They have great reviews all over the net, and was actually recommended to me by Brent at Dirty Dingo. Brent also builds cars for a living too. PSI took extra time to find out some info for me regarding fuel pumps and answered a bunch of questions for me weeks before I ordered. Then they tweaked the design of my harness for me as I needed it. I can't wait to get it and check it out!!
