value of NON-OP lwb
About 20 minutes from my house there is a LWB, looks to be a 71 Custom sitting in a yard full of trucks. Not a wrecking yard, but simply an industrial yard. According to the two guys responsible for it, it fell off of a wrecker some years ago, which explains why the front drivers fender is bashed in fairly well.
It took a few months to find these guys. Both of them stated that it had a new 350 engine (or an engine rebuild) about 2K miles prior to the damage. BUT...I looked at it close and it appears that the frame is bent as there is a notch in the power steering pulley where the frame was pushed into it. Also, someone has pilfered the radiator and carb off of it. So really the bed, doors, cab, engine, A/C equipment, speakers and assorted things are still fine on it...but it will probably never be driveable and I'd need to have it towed to my house, where I really don't have room or time to dis-assemble it. (yet, where there's a will, there's a way) So they told me how much they'd sell the whole thing to me for and now I am wondering what to do, since I do want parts from it, but not the whole thing. Please advise. |

Take the whole thing, scrap or part out the rest. They want to get it out of their way, it sounds like, and it is probably a very good deal.

I told him it was worth about $250 in parts to me, he said he'd give me the title and let it go for $500, so I am thinking about approaching him with $400.

I was just told by an insurance company, that the scarp value for my driveable 72 C10 was $350...

i'd say if the doors and bed are in good unrusted condition it would be worth the $500 depends how much time and labor you're willing to invest and if you have a place to store the hulk while you strip it

maybe I'll offer 350... yes the doors, glass and much of it are in very good shape, cab is fine (other than the mouse turds and ants in it). The body trim is about 80-85% perfect, not really any rust either... hmmm

Sacto c10 we are lucky not being in the rust belt as was said. I think if the truck is in good condition you're ok buying it, get it for what you can.
