Computer location Vs. wire length

I am getting ready for a wire harness and the tech asked me how long to make the harness to the ECU, 4'-,5'-, or 6'?

This is on my 78 Silverado so where is the best location (easiest) in the cab to mount the ECU?

The sticker is missing in the glove box that had the rear end info on it and I do not remember what the rear gear ratio is, with out removing the cover how to I tell, maybe the speedometer gear?

most aftermarket wiring harness add 4ft.

but that also matters how you route the wires. i layed out my wires over the engine how i wanted them, and marked which ones didnt reach.

on the rear end ratio you can jack up the rear and spin driveshaft, count revolutions until wheel makes on full turn.

and maybe different truck, but there is a 78 with 3.42 ratio in your signature?
