Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

It was on my truck when I got it...however the stickers on it have since been painted over.

It's very heavy as well...

Thanks!

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

There was a question and a picture a while back showing the same type bumper on a different truck Back in the day I believe they were an option in some areas of the country installed by different dealers that offered them, but I am not the expert. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Nice looking truck by the way!

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

They were made so the tailgate can fold straight down so you can load stuff easier by being able to back right up to a loading dock. My 71 had one of those originally but the owner modified it a lot

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

I have a similar style on my C20 that I bought used.....

Andy....

I think your bumper might have been made by Luverne...the style is much like the one on my K20.
Told you they were related!

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

Thank guys!

Larry, that's just creepy

I went out and looked at the remnants of the stickers, I could make out "LINDSTAD" (or something similar), and on the other one, I saw "LU-----" the rest was gone. I'd say Luverne as it is very similar to the one above.

Thanks again!

By the way, here are a couple pics of the stickers, can't see them too well.

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

It is an aftermarket bumper intended to allow the tailgate to be folded down 180* and backing up to a dock for loading. There have been a couple of threads on this style. Here is a link with more pictures.

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

Yup that's it, thanks for the link! I never knew the recessed area was so you could drop the tailgate.

Re: Anyone seen this rear bumper before?

Nice bumper. Lets the tailgate fall but protects the bed corners. Looks like a great bumper for 4X4. Sorry but never seen one before.
