Welcome to the board!

As far as I know the fiber optic cables are not being reproduced.
There are plenty of used ones around though.

It is a pretty cool way of getting light to the shift indicator.

The previous owner of my 70 blazer cut the fiber optic wire to that pointer, so I posted on here about wanting one and had a guy send me the wire and the plug that goes into the dash gauges for FREE! He even paid to mail it to me! What a guy!
Anyways I guess I was lucky, but you can get a used one from many of the guys here. Post a thread on the 67-72 Parts Board and I can guarantee someone will help you out.

You can probably find one pretty easy. Clean up bote ends wit some ligt sand paper and it will really light up your pointer!!!

You can buy fibre optic strands in various sizes at electronics supply stores. (Not Radio Shack)

Not on the dash dinnut, on the steering column. The shift indicator. There is a ligt that plugs into the back of the gauge cluster and has a fiber optic connection to the shift indicator, thus ligting up the pointer on the indicator. Does that help clarify dinnut?

yup, all the 67 - 72 trucks (non-tilt) came like this.
They can be found, but not as common as you may think. If none show up in you local yards, look in the older vans.

No, I was actually decelerating. It had been up to 100-105, but I had to lift becouse I was coming up on my exit.

As for being optional...no. ALL 67 - 72 chevy/GMC trucks came like this onless there was a tilt column on the option sheet.
