Is my Quadrajet junk?
So I was cleaning up my carb when I noticed that there's a freaking HOLE in it! Am I screwed now? Can I fix this with something like epoxy?
It seems like one thing after another with this truck lately. Thanks for any suggestions. Patrick Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Shouldn't be a problem epoxing it if it being there bothers you. IIRC that's at the back behind the secondary air valve. No fuel there to leak.
Can you see the hole looking from above? I'm not sure if it's tapped into manifold vacuum or just fresh air. |

Or, you could always pick up another Q-jet...there are lots of them on ebay in the $50 range. If you got a newer one...'76,'77,'78...you could set it up with an electronic choke. Check with Cliff Ruggles...he has everything you would need.

Re: Is my Quadrajet junk?
I'm not worried about the look - I don't think you'd be able to see it unless you were sitting on the distributor. I'm more concerned that this will cause a vacuum leak. If you're saying the carb will otherwise operate like it should, I'm good to go.
If this is a problem, then I have to repair it if at all possible. I simply don't have the time or extra money to hunt down a new carb body. I've had several "small" hiccups with this project lately ($50 here, another $150 there, etc) that taken together is adding up to real money. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Is my Quadrajet junk?
I put a tie in the hole so you can see where it leads.
On the top plate, it looks like it lines up with a hole that goes to a dead end. (Second opening from left -not the big one) Does this mean I'm all good in the hood? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Is my Quadrajet junk?
It's plugged off from the top by the gasket and the top plate.
PLug it with epoxy and run it. |

You don't need to do anything with this . If it does not pull vacuum or leak gas, don't worry about it.
