I wont to be sure it is a 71 or earlier block. most blocks are cast a few months before production but a few earlier ones have been used.
The stamped numbers don't mean a whole lot to me.. other than it may show as a truck block. If this was a Corvette I would want a numbers stamped block. Most of the time the numbers are milled during decking, or it may be a replacement. I have found the numbers at the 12 o clock position above the timing cover.
Is a pre 71 block that much different ? The only number possible to see when its in a truck is the casting id
