The stock rear will be fine. My other ride is a 79 Malibu with a 454 4-speed and stock 7.5 10 bolt with 3.42s and a posi. These are the second most weak rears out there.

I've only had one 327, and it ran good. But I don't know how it would be in a truck with those gears. But for next to nothing and some planning they can make some power.
