timing ona 235
i know about the BB on flywheel and know about the oct setting on bottom of dizzy ,, now i have mine set on 0 is above the pointer advanced or below ?? min is set about 1/8 to 1/4 above the pointer , what is that , i am having trouble with running a tad bit hot

Distributor turns clockwise (same as firing order of plug wires), so turning it counter clockwise (against the rotation) advances timing.

i think i am real close ,, now the BB is just a hair below the pointer ,,1/8 or so ,, i think it has more power and starts real well

To correctly time a 235.
loosen the vacuum advance bolt in the block and line up the dash stamped into the block with the 0 on the vacuum advance plate, tighten the bolt. Then loosen the vacuum advance clamp on the distributor disconnect the tube to the vacuum unit. Using a timing light bring the pointer to dead center of the BB. It is now properly timed. If you want to advance the timing loosen the block bolt and advance it there. No light needed. This is actually called an octane selector. |
