Door skin quality
I had a curvature in my drivers door that wasn't going away no matter how much I beat on it so decided that doing a door skin would be an easy fix.
So I pick up a new skin at a local place, it looks nice, I get the old one off and realize it seems to weigh a lot more then the new one. The skin that was on the door was not original itself. So I attempt to weigh them, it looks like the new skin is 3-4 lbs lighter. The biggest problem I have with all of this is that the sticker on the new skin from Key Parts lists the thickness as 1.20 mm. I get out my fancy new digital calliper and measure it and it is 0.9mm. Measure the old skin and the rest of the truck and it measures 1.20mm From what i have read on here Key Parts is supposedly a good brand, I know if I contact them about the discrepancies that the will claim that is altered during the forming process which I can't really see since it is largely a flat panel. I don't think it is right they claim it is something it is not. I have a thing about doing things right, I am working tirelessly to ensure that there will a minimal amount of body filler on this truck, so I just don't want to settle on the thinner panel if there is a better one out there. 69-72, Start with where you purchased the panel. They can check their inventory for thickness. I will take a panel from my inventory to work and measure it as well. I have been selling Key Parts for 2 years now and have not found anything under caliper in that time. I just got my parts in from the trailer. The box is Tri-Plus and it is marked 1.0MM for gauge with no caliper on the Key label. The panel weight should be about 5.2kg or 11.5 pounds. I will let you know what I find tomorrow.

I put the mic on the metal and it fell into the 1.00mm range.
The first spot I checked was 0.991 and the second spot was 1.036mm.

In mho if they say it is X thick then it should be what they say. No excuses they made the ad to say what they said it would be. Sounds like a bait and switch. False advertizing at least.

Thats what I kinda thought. I am usually pretty particular about replacement parts before I buy them but I had a good look at it and assume it was the correct thickness. It wasn't until I got the old door skin off(which was replaced already once) that I noticed the significant weight difference.
