Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
Looking to buy a 4 core radiator for my 74 C10 and was wondering where have some of you gotten radiators at a decent price that were copper/brass and of decent quality?

I don't know of anyone making copper cores. Aluminum is not bad. I use a 454 radiator in my truck. Your best bet is to have a good core rebuilt and cleaned.

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
I got mine from a local hobbyist and it only had 40 miles on it; like brand new.
Its a Modine unit. Ive been around some shops over the years. Inspect the tube widths and metal thicknesses. Aluminum and Brass suppliers use different guts. I would suggest that you take a good look at one in person before you buy one. Compare what you see and make your best judgement call when deciding on the one you want to buy. I "think" some of the 4-row aluminum radiators made to fit our truck may use a 2 or 3 row tube core. The 2 rows that I have seen have wide oval shapes compensating for the flow characteristics, as well as to not pass thru too fast that it doesnt cool. Just food for thought before you buy one.

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
Here is one of the places I found. A bit high maybe but at least they are brass copper. 3 row for $342 or so... Are 3 rows just as efficientas 4 rows? Some people tell me that I would be just fine with a 3 row.

Do you need a 4 core? Or is it one of "all the cool kids have one" things. (lol)
Have you checked a local rad shop to see if yours can be reworked?

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
Whoever had it before me and the other guy at work that sold it to me has some small thin plastic and aluminum one on it thats really small. Not what should be on it. Hoping to get a 3 or 4 core one decently priced. 3 core one will be sufficient correct? I saw some 1 cores online and I am surprised they makem to go on a 350 small block, seems way to small.

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
I got a fairly thick 3 core off an online vendor on the internet. I think 4 cores were available also if you called you could check on that. Just do a google search for radiators. I bought the radiator online but picked it up at a local radiator dealer. I think that big 3 core (ReadyRad) was about $135 (copper and brass). They would have shipped me one to my door cheaper, but I did not want to wait. I think I got about $40 from the local scrapyard for the old radiator. My stock 454 granny 4spd C20 has lived in the desert as long as I have owned it (10 years) and it never overheated with a 3 core stock radiator.

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
I just checked Advance Auto website. 3 core Ready-Rad, copper and brass, 216.19.
This is for my location, so local price may vary. Not sure if the link will work.http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...d=1#fragment-2

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
Do some homework an aluminum 2 core will cool better than a cheap brass/copper 4 core. Actually a 2 core brass/copper with larger cores and dimpled to rotate the fluid will out cool a 3 core brass/copper.
learned this info when I had my original harrison recored. Was pricey over $500 but well worth it cools a lot better and looks 100% stock. |

Check craigslist. I got one in perfect shape out of a 8 second drag car for 100 bucks.

Re: Who has decent prices on 4 core radiators?
tube shape & size are more important than rows. replaced the stock 4 core in my crew with a 3 core all aluminum on advice of my friend who works in a rad shop (stock rad was beyond salvage-4" branch threw it). even loaded at 14000lbs, it runs 5-7 degrees cooler than the 4 did

There's a 4-core in our C30 dually 454, still creeps up when hauling horses up a grade at freeway speeds..
