Emblem installation
So I failed to install the side fender emblem before reassembly and now realized that you can not access the back side of the fender to set the nuts on the emblem. I really do not want to completely disasemble the truck to put the emblem on.
Have any of you guys found an alternative to using the nuts on the back side. I know they have emblem glue out there but concerned about it holding up over time. Any suggestions? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Emblem installation
If you have a gear wrench you can get the nuts on the emblem without removing the fender

Re: Emblem installation
Take the bottom fender bolt off and you can squeeze your arm in from the bottom. I forgot to put them on my dad's GMC. You will never forget again!

Re: Emblem installation
Resist the urge to use tape or barrel nuts for a front mount solution. A gear wrench will get up in there. Mine are long professional size but a taped extension will allow you to get into surprising places. The key is holding the nut. Electrical tape as a shim to fit tight into the wrench works well as does body caulk or weatherstrip adhesive.

Re: Emblem installation
Thank you for elaborating Tim. If you don't have a set of gear wrenches, the electrical tape method works great. Takes a little patience, but it is well worth the effort. Taking just the bottom bolt off as wideside describes will also help you get in there.

Re: Emblem installation
This is very helpful, and I apologize for the hijacking the thread, but...
I screwed (no pun intended) up and forgot to install the lower molding pieces behind the doors on the cab. The right side is obviously no problem. But, does anyone have a way to install the left molding in a bucket seat truck with the carpet tank cover without moving (removing?) the tank? There's only about 3/8" between the tank and the door pillar. Jim |

I dropped my fender once when I installed my heater core. What a pain. The bolts were all rusted on, and the nuts back behind would often times just sit there and spin Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Emblem installation
My truck did not have the C/10 or 350 emblems on the fenders so i installed them on it, I pulled the inner fenders out to gain access to the nuts it was tight but i got them on.

Re: Emblem installation
I was faced with this challenge once...
It was so much easier with the inner fender out (which I conveniently had out at the time). I used a Craftsman 3/8" wrench that was really long. The tough part is trying to get the nuts to thread on!

Re: Emblem installation
Grrrr, this is what I was afraid of. Don't have any gear wrenches so I will have to try and sneak my arm up there some how. Thanks guys!

Re: Emblem installation
lol, sounds like me and my sons build. we got rushed and ended up using body glue. it has held for about 6 months. We are now going back and gonna do it right, i have rehabbed some extra emblems. We will be removing the fender as I need to install a new heater core and new door hinges, so it is a perfect time to get this done (on the passenger side anyway)
I would recommend just doing it right the first time

Re: Emblem installation
Use silicone. It will never fall off. Stays flexible and it's strong. Forget clips and drilling holes. There was no way I was gonna drill all those holes in my body to install all my trim, moldings and emblems. There are holes in the fenders for the gmc emblems but I used silicone and no nuts on the back. There is no way they are coming off without a pry bar. Plus it seals the existing holes so they won't rust. The silicone will hold forever. Just be careful how much you use on trim pieces. Too much silicone and they will be impossible to remove without destroying them.
