Gonna Get New Tires
I thought I'd treat my truck to some new shoes this weekend. I ordered Michelin LTX/MX2's. The question is, what would look better. Should I put the raised white lettering in or out? The truck has chrome rims with baby moon caps.

In.
FWIW....the 1st time you hit a curb w/the RWL, off goes some/all of the white. FWIW2....I used to have white wall tires. When they were clean, they looked good. After awhile, the only way they got white was with Wesley's bleach white and a wire brush. I swore never again, and I haven't. JMO....don t. .... |

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
That actually makes a lot of sense. I was just thinking about the Retro aspect with the wheels.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
if your a big fan of riding curbs and you want the white lettering on the outside, keep a white sharpie or permenant marker in the glove box lol
i did it for a couple years doesnt look half bad i just recommend staying away from the curb

With that said, white letter in on your truck. I only like white letters on white trucks, but that is my personal opinion.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
The only way I'd put letters out is if the tires were free from a sponsor.

a good indicator is that if the white is blue when you first get them, yes there is alot of imatators but are easy to distinguish try not to get tires that are painted on, half the time the white paint doesnt match the lettering

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
It's up to what you like. Personally I like the letters out. I keep my tires clean with Bleach-white so they always look like new.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
My white letters stay looking pretty good as long as I use a brush on them every week when I wash the truck.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
I run my Michelins blackwalls out.
Great choice for tires, BTW.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
Really just depends on the look your going for IMO as sometimes they look better and some times they look out of place, wheel choice and color decide that IMO.
Puttem out on my truck and think it was a good call. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
The whole thing is about your personal tastes not about what everyone else thinks.
I do agree some trucks would look better turned in then again some would look better out I think.

andy hit the nail on the head mo is if your building a sporty go fast truck alot of times the white out complements the look, if your doing a retro/classic build "old truck look" the black out usually looks better. of course its just a matter of opinion but this is my 2 cents. i'm useing thin white walls on my classic look

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
With baby moons no. Rally's yes for white lettering. Or on a 4x4 yes to lettering. White lettering is more of a muscle car look. Baby moons are too retro looking for white lettering I think.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
This is a coin toss. On your truck it will look good either way. Here is a picture that may help but remember the white sides on you truck will make the letters less stark. So I'd say when you get there roll one over to your truck and stand back a bit. It will feel right or not quick.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
Depends all on the build of the truck if they go white in or out..

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
I prefer white letter out.
Also---great choice on those Michelins. That's all I run on my daily drivers once the originals wear out. best tires I've ever owned.

Re: Gonna Get New Tires
Knowing how much of a PITA it can be to get tires mounted on a Sat. morning around here I'm figuring you are still out and about. Might get some good poppy background shots over around 110th west with your new tires.

I actually got to the tire store at 8:00AM and was on the road at 8:20AM. I got them from The Tire Store on Sierra. First time I used them in many years because in the past they weren't very careful with the vehicle. I decided to give them another try and I was surprised. They must have changed ownership because the place was clean, The guys were polite and the price was the best. What Poppies?? |
