Dad's 69 SWB done
Dad bought this truck new in 69. Three on the tree six C10. After his passing 20 years ago I took title and made some changes. Two restorations later I think I'm done.

Re: Dad's 69 SWB done
Hey thanks guys, I've got a 5 year old a Grandson who I'll pass it on to when he can afford to pay for gas to drive it hopefully. Also his feet will need to reach the peds. Its a four speed Munsey M20 wide range, Hurst shifter, no power assist manual stearing and manual drum brakes, 3.42 open 12 bolt rear. The engine is a Professionally Built .030 over 350, solid lifters, mild street comp cam, alum. intake, Edlbrock 600cfi 4 barrel, forged steel crank, 4 bolt, headman headers. I wanted it to be fast but a crurser not a racer. It is fast but never to the track or dino'd to find out how fast.
I like the set up as it is and it's a blast to drive. Doug Last edited by Struckn; 03-03-2012 at 11:20 AM. Reason: signature |

Re: Dad's 69 SWB done
Hey Thanks, The mirrows came from from JC Whitney or LMC Truck and they work great. I like the old school clean minimal look on these trucks, some but not too much bling. It's nosed, decked, and shaved except for door handles and gas filler. Originally I painted front molding and role pan to match the truck, but after I added chrome to the front it got a lot more attention.Wheels are K5 Blazer with Chrome Ralley trim Rings and Centers.

Re: Dad's 69 SWB done
I checked you threat out FLYINLOW and yes looks like your's is gonna look similar. Mine is painted Chrome Yellow which looks close to the yellow you are looking for. This is my second paint job, truck originally was a Teal Green from the factory. About 17 years ago when I did the first resto I had it panted a Canary Yellow which you can see in some of the restoration pics, so when we painted it this last time Chrome Yellow it covered well. It's a MACO Paint job! I know the guys that work there so they took time to do it right, better then what I could do. I did the body work and prep then they sprayed it for me. Got it back in about 2 weeks from them.
Best thing to get the 70's C10's looking right I think is to change the Springs dropping the front 2-1/2 inches and 4" inches rear. Maintains it's 1/2 ton load capacity but the ride and handling is so much better. Don't have to change shocks, spindals or anything else and not real expensive. Off Topic, Saw you 80's GMC in your thread. I have a Chevy '84 K5 Blazer. Here's a pic. See's lame right now with a bad Tranny Leak. |

FLY IN LOW
I went back to your threat and saw your's done. Great build, loved it. Yes, looks similar but you went a lot deeper into the mechanics and did a frame off plus the disc brakes and a lot more then what I did. You got a nice famely too. |
