what is this?????????

i have no clue what this is.much less if its a car or truck part.any ideas?its about 5 inches across.the brass looking doors ar hinged.im thinking about making an air cleaner for my bike out of it.any ideas may help.thanks

Part of an old vacuum cleaner maybe? Looks like some kind of cover for an elecrtical motor/fan assembly.

May have been the face plate on the heater in an old car - back when it was an accessory mounted under the dash and not an integral part of the dash.

If it's a truck part, it would have to be an old one. I haven't seen anything like that on any vehicle I've ever worked on -- that would be back to the 60s

Looks like the exhaust vent off an old Electrolux Sweeper.

well after so many of you were saying vaccum part...i looked up electrolux and sure enough it is the exhaust on a 1952 electrolux,thanks now i wont feel bad about making me an air cleaner out of it.

Damn...and I thought it was a Genuine muffler bearing housing!!??
