Exclamation Mock up working-Gauging Interest WIPER DELAY!

I have put the finishing touches on a plug and play wiper delay for my 72 C10. This module will require NO HARNESS cutting and is 100% reversible. In other words, it can be taken out and transferred to your next project truck! Once removed, your wipers get hooked back up as they were from the factory. The best part is that your wipers still work as they should(low, high and wash)while the module is connected. This delay will pulse your wipers(high speed)about every 3-20 seconds(fully adjustable in between).
The biggest issue I have is where to put the box. I do want to procure a more suitable(smaller)box. The second issue is that the delay potentiometer is mounted on the box itself. I want to (and can)mount the potentiometer(delay adjustment knob) remotely in the future. I envision a potentiometer that can be velcroed into position to use in the rain and velcroed out of sight when not raining. I am mulling over other ways to secret the control as I know many of you don't want to see it but I do know you want the delay feature. I am going to shoot a brief video and link it here. In the meantime....what do you think? Interested?

Please see the video links three postings below

Well, that day is here! I have the first "production" wiper delay unit ready to ship. And in the spirit of the holiday(well, sort of)I am giving the first one away 100% FREE. I am giving it to nobolt as he was the first to express interest.

Fret not, more to come(though not free, sorry)

PM sent to nobolt for his mailing address

I'm interested in one. I've got some ideas for you. Could you make a bracket that bolts this delay box to the bottom of the dash kind of behind the gauge cluster but flush with the bottom of the dash? That way you can just reach down and adjust the knob to your liking and it's out of site too?

I hear you on getting it under the dash....these dashes can be a bit cluttered as is. I would like to get the enclosure smaller and the potentiometer mounted off of the box. The less reaching under the dash(to operate it) the better. Glad to see the positive feedback so far. As far as cost is concerned, I would like to do these-ready to plug in-for about $50 shipped to your door(Canada too)
I like the idea of industrial strength velcro, just clean some steel with a wire brush and stick it where you want it-no messing with drilling or even bolting it up. I may provide that mounting material but leave it up to the owner to fab mounting.

Re: Mock up working-Gauging Interest WIPER DELAY!

I would be interested. There used to be a unit like this available back in the '80s. It worked as you described, use the stock switch as normal OR use the delay. I think when you hit the stock switch it cancelled the delay? It was a long time ago. It was an under dash mount. I made a bracket to mount it behind the lip of the dash facing down,as Dieselwrencher suggested. You couldn't see it and it was simple enough to feel the knob and turn

Operating the stock switch works like normal but the delay unit is still clicking away(no effect on normal wiper function) I guess I can leave mounting to the owner. I am going to see where the current project box(size)would fit-perhaps with the knob facing down as you indicated. Thanks again for the input, I hope to get cracking on this project soon.

Keep the suggestions coming!

You could make a mount to go in your ashtray or possibly in your radio delete plate...just my 2 cents.

Yeah, the ashtray (at least for me) is just a catch all as I don't smoke. It is big enough at least for a remotely wired control.

I am going to show a picture(tomorrow) of my current box with an angle bracket nutted to one of the four bolts that hold the steering column plate. This will allow access to the knob just past the lip of the dash, it looks like it would work-at least in my truck!

Neat idea.

Any chance you would sell the schematic and parts list?
