Actual, factory tire size on my 87?
I can't seem to get a straight answer through all my searching. Did anyone buy one of these trucks new back in the day and see the actual, factory tire size? One guy will swear its one size, then someone else will come along and say its something else. Anyone know the truth?

Re: Actual, factory tire size on my 87?
I worked in a tire shop in the late 80's and if the truck had 15x8in rallys on it, it had 235/75/15's on it. Not sure about the 15x6 steel wheels with hub caps but I want to say 205/75/15's on those.

Re: Actual, factory tire size on my 87?
I believe it's going to depend on what options your truck has and what tires were ordered

Silverado, with the standard rally wheels. The ones with the center cap and the gold chevy logo in the middle, that so many of these trucks though out the 80's had. I do know that a lot of the people who run the stock tire size complain that they look too small for the trucks.

Quote:
I ordered my truck new and followed it down the assembly line; plus - I built about 3.5 million square bodies back in the day. If you flip through here it will show you all the tire/wheel combinations that were available for 1987: http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs...olet-Truck.pdf I orderd mine with the P235/75R15s, which is what is on it now. Also - if you tell us what the tire RPO codes is (..are...) on your SPID we can tell you what tires your truck came with. Lastly - if you want to spend $50 you can send your VIN to the GM Heritage Center archives and they can give you the actual invoice for your specific truck, which would include the tires ordered originally as well as all other RPO content (and prices). http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=3 So - the factory information is out there. It shouldn't take much to get to the bottom of this great mystery. K

Re: Actual, factory tire size on my 87?
I bought my 82,4x4,C-10 new(and still have it)
It came with 235's on it. My 85 Gmc has 225's on it. And,235's on my 77,C-10. How close to accurate your speedo is will tell if your tires are the right size. That is if your truck is original. Mike. |

Re: Actual, factory tire size on my 87?
I just bought my 38th square about 6 weeks ago and #37 two months before that. #38 is an 86 2wd c10 which had the original tires on it when i bought it.
237/75 - 15 on both of these as well as MANY of the previous trucks. even with the factory tire size on my truck, the speedo is still off 5MPH. -Izzy
