Re: Should i buy this radiator?

It depends on brand i suppose. I got the universal aluminum from jegs, it was like $175 i think. I am pleased with it. I doesn't have a trans cooler but i put a separate trans cooler for $30.

Will you be able to get a fan shroud on it?

Some radiators have markings to identify for show.
If it looks OEM, OEM hoses fit, and OEM installation bracket fits then it's close enough for a driver IMHO.

Re: Should i buy this radiator?

I would measure whatever is in it now and compare. If there is nothing in it, you may be better off finding an original/replacement that fits correct. If you replace it with an incorrect fitting one, you need to figure out how to mount it, then figure out a shroud too. It may be cheaper to get a different radiator at first, but factor in the mounting and fitting a shroud to it and you may be better off just getting a correct fitting replacement.

Make sure that it is fully welded. If it is constructed with epoxy, don't buy it. The epoxy can crack with enough vibration. Just my $.02.

Re: Should i buy this radiator?

I just installed one purchased from O'Reilly's. Even though it specified "with a/c" it did not have the extra heater return. I routed to the water pump instead. it was also a bit bigger than the one i replaced, but it fit... enough. At least you could take it back to the store if something is off?

Interesting, should I buy the one with ac or not. My blazer has ac from the factory but I'm removing it.

Re: Should i buy this radiator?

They did offer 3 and 4 row radiators. Tthe mounting brackets and pads on the 3 row are narrower than the 4 row. I'm not sure if this was on all years, but my 69 had a 3 row when I bought it and I put in a row.

Re: Should i buy this radiator?

Um, Aluminum is good and bad. Light but expensive also doesn't have much for heat sink which is important to manage heat as a bye product of inefficient engines. I had a similar decision to make and went from a 3 row brass to a 4 row brass radiator commonly called a "big block". I wanted extra cooling capacity for towing with a 700r4 without buying a transmission oil cooler. I had to buy new supports and drilled out my old bottom ones. It has the AC hose connection but I don't have AC so I made a "T" connection. It's OK, looks pro and bought the 4 row for $50.00 off craiglist. I took it and my heater core to the radiator shop, had them boiled and tested. The guy painted them and combed the fins too. That was $75.00. I am good, $125.00 and have OEM parts and confidence they are OK too. G.
