Lower or not to lower - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 1969 Chevy camper custom 3/4 ton that is rust free and with the usual Pea green paint and trim. This winter and next spring I am going to Rust proof it...Paint it..New interior and gauges. My question is should I leave it as it is or lower it? Has anyone out there lowered one and if so please put your truck picture on here so I can see it. It also has the standard 8 bolt pattern for the wheels. I plan to show it in shows in Michigan.

lower it so it looks good. put some trick billet 8 lug wheels and youll be set. www.billetwheel.com www.billetspecialties.com and such have really cool 8 lug rims

Well, I am in favor of lowering it, because I like the sportier look of sport trucks over the look of stock "truck" trucks. But that aside, there is nothing saying that you can't put it back where it is if you did ever think about trying to lower it, as long as you don't get all carried away making changes that can't be reversed.

I dropped my daily driver about 4/4" and recently put it back up around 3/4" simply because I didn't like it the way looked, felt and drove at the lower height. I am thinking about getting the rear back up to only 3" of drop too.

So expirement if you are not certain!

Sent you PM with the details, but DJM sells this kit for the rear, which makes the drop adjustable from .5" to 1.5". I had my own U-bolts and blocks made, for a few dollars cheaper than the kit.

Aftermarket wholesale (famous for their "got 20's" ad) seemed to be slow at getting the DJM kit for me. I orginally went to them, right near my home, to get this DJM kit.
