3/8" vs 5/16" Fuel Sending Unit
So.. I've been collecting parts to work on my truck for a while. Somehow I ordered a 3/8" sending unit from Ecklers. Well after an entire day of massaging my new fuel tank in place, O M G it's the wrong size sending unit.
No big deal, Ill just bend a new fuel line and really push on the 5/16" Rubber hose. I quickly learned bending 3/8 fuel line with a 5 dollar bender is NO BUENO. So after my 3rd piece of tubing I finally got a somewhat decent bend. The issue I had was the new sending unit was angled up slightly instead of horizontal. I had to make a crazy bend to make everything line up. My question is, am I cool using it this way or do I need to bite the bullet and 50 bones on the correct sending unit? If the float and everything works, I want to leave it this way for now. I saved my old steel line just in case I need to swap back.

Looks good to me, even with a really good bender it is hard to get a sharp bend in 3/8ths. tubing. Just be sure it doesn't hit the back of the seat. It is going to be tough getting 5/16ths. fuel line on a 3/8ths. tube without splitting the hose. You might try using some brass fittings and make an adapter to go from 3/8ths. to 5/16ths..
Remember to check for leaks, and always have a fire extinguisher close by when working on the fuel system.
