Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
the C10 cab might have been crapped out with rust in areas that were not easily repairable. My truck has a C20 cab. Perfect shape.

Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
sounded like thats the way it was originally built.
If its not the original cab its not really mcqueens truck is it? or he was the one that had the cab swap done? |

Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
I am saying when they built it to be a Baja truck, they might have done that to save money and time

Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
couldn't you verify the vin (VIN: KE149Z810013) which is correct for 1/2 ton against the frame (assuming its original) for a match? my guess is the rivets are not original that hold the plate on.

Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
Trying to catch several things here. That auction copy is from an article about the truck from a while back showcasing it and its mods. The cab bs is simply because the author stated marker lights were only on the 1-ton up cabs so it was a COPO C30 cab!!! The drop hoods came out after this truck was built. In fact we have yet to document a Hickey mfg. drop hood for the 69-72 trucks.

Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
That truck was built as you see it,from day-1. The latest owner joined up here and we talked a lot about it. He also has/had a historically significant Blazer. I was going to sell him some Hickey accessories tanks and other stuff but he kinda disappeared. I never knew it ever belonged to McQueen.

Re: Steve McQueen's truck at Mecum
Interesting. I wouldn't bid unless I had money to burn. I do like McQueen tho. He's up there with Bronson Newman and a few other Hollywood types that had substance over hype. Imho
