Re: 67 gmc

There were a few different V6's available in the old GMC's. Most are kinda rare nowadays... but they were good pullers in their day. The most common was probably the 305 V6.

Re: 67 gmc

What is rare to see is a '67 GMC with a V8. They didn't get those till near the end of the year.
That "pink" '67 sounds interesting. The color would be Palamino Tan and if it's top-of-the-line it's a Super Custom, all of which came with buckets just like Chevy CSTs. Can you get more info on it? Is he interested in selling? If yes, could you let me know a way to contact him?

Re: 67 gmc

In Canada they never had the V6 engines. probably cause all Canadian trucks were built in Oshawa which was mostly chevys so we had 283-327 in ours. I would kind of like one with a v6 engine. would be cool to see something new under the hood.

Re: 67 gmc

Based on what I have seen, the 305 V-6 and 250 straight 6 were the 2 most common engines in 1967 GMC pickups. 292's are a little more rare, mostly seen in 2500's, and 351 V-6's and V-8's being the rarest.

Then again there are those rumors that 1 or 2 left the factory with Toroflow V-6 diesels

Well,if no one knew the truck was at Dave's Classic Cars in Glenarm,Ill. there would be no harm in showing the truck on the internet. But,since all I had to do is Goggle that, now I have the address. He might be telling the truth. I checked his Facebook spot and he shows no photos. So,this truck must be a keeper cuz he's a classic car dealer yet not interested in selling this one?

Re: 67 gmc

As I remember it, Palamino Tan was not really a pink when it was new, it's just that if that color became oxidized, it turned pink!

Yeah,it's not Pink. It fades to a peach color, though. A Palamino is a horse and I've never seen a Pink horse. I had the front clip from a '67 Super Custom that was Palamino Tan,but I can't find any pictures of a truck. It's code is 527,if you look for samples

Re: 67 gmc

The V-6 in GMCs were somewhat common in the older days and those engines had some serious torque to them.

Re: 67 gmc

My 67 had a 351 V6 with a turbo 400 trans and 4.10 gears in the dana 60. 70 mph downhill top speed and 7 mpg. Back in the day of cheap fuel this may have been a good option for some. I did a 350 swap 10 years ago and now I'm almost finished with a LS swap.

And all this time I thought the Palamino was a country-western club in North Hollywood back in the day!

I have a '67 GMC paint chip chart somewhere, now I have to go and check it out.

Re:

I am informally and unofficially declaring that I may have the last factory-installed 305 V6... in a '69 C20 pickup.

The TH400 ID plate indicates that it was made/installed in some early time of 1970... and some source says that the factory quit installing the V6 in Feb 1970 or thereabouts. (I don't have the info in front of me... and besides, it's unofficial )

But I think they could still be dealer-installed until '73, usually in Camper Specials or the like...

Since no one probably WANTS that honor... I'm happy to take it.
