shorter driveshaft

my driveshaft broke right at the cv joint. i got another one that came from a 400 tranny and its about 3-4 inches to long. is there a way to cut this and make it the right size or do i have to pay someone to do it.

thanks

take it to a driveline shop and have them cut and re-weld it...
or if you have the machines to cut it close to the front u-joint and then weld it back together you can give it a try...
most front drive line time is off road and slow....
