There is a kit on ebay with the metal prep, marine clean, and por15 all in gallon size for $160. Doubt you'll need a gallon but thats what I got just incase I find that I need it for other needs.

Remember that POR-15 has no UV protection and must be top coated when exposed to sunlight. Also once you have opened the can put a piece of plastic bag over the can before closing or you will not get the top off again. It sticks much better to a lightly rusted or sand blasted surface, it doesn't stick well to smooth or shiny surfaces. Good stuff when correctly used.

Re: Which POR15 is right for my frame ?

you have to pay attention to flash times...too dry and the next coat wont bond to the previous one...too wet and you've got a drippy mess...I believe its a moisture cure polyurethane base so temp and humidity affect drying...never sprayed it cause I has afraid i'd have to throw out the gun when I was done...so 2 coats por 15 and 2 coats chassis black can be a 16 hour day,so plan accordingly.

Re: Which POR15 is right for my frame ?

I used por 15 and Ive used chassis coat (silver)----I like the chassis coat better. Por 15 is good but the other sprays better and can be top coated with anything---por 15 cant.

The ad says its self leveling and can be brushed on-----but it never lays really flat if brushed.

Powder coating is not as durable as POR 15 or chassis coat. POR can also be topcoated with anything. It either has to be "tacky" and not fully cured, or an etching primer can be used if it is cured.

Re: Which POR15 is right for my frame ?

I used it on some of my parts and frame and was happy with the results. I do have some advice...no matter how hard you try not to get it on you...you will. Fingernail polish remover (stolen from the wife) took it off. Good luck!!

Re: Which POR15 is right for my frame ?

2 quarts should do it. I've done half my frame and some misc. parts and still have part of a quart left.

I used foam brushes, just don't use the really cheap ones, get the good quality foam ones.
